As an attorney for 32 years, I have worked on thousands of cases in every area of the law, in state and federal courts. As Judge, I will make sure everyone receives equal justice under our laws and constitution. I would appreciate your vote on May 14th!

I moved to Princeton when I was five years old. I was a Cub Scout and won the Golden Horseshoe for West Virginia history in eighth grade. I am a 1984 graduate of Princeton High School, where I was a member of the basketball and baseball teams.
My father is Ward Lefler, he lives in Monroe County. My mother is Judith Sandoval Joyce. She lives in Richmond. Both my parents are from Mullens, Wyoming County. I have a sister, Sara Heath. She lives in San Diego, California. She is married with three children.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from WVU, then I attended the University of Alabama School of Law, graduating with a JD. While in law school, I was a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and there, first joined the Farah Law Society.
After law school I moved back home to Princeton. I passed the West Virginia State Bar then began practicing with Gibson & McFadden. The principal partner at that firm was Michael F. Gibson. I practiced with Mr. Gibson through various iterations of the firm until August 2015. At that time, we were practicing as Gibson, Lefler & Associates at 1345 Mercer St. in Princeton.
Since August 2015, I have been a small business owner and sole practitioner with my office in Princeton. I do the work typical of small-town lawyers, including Social Security disability cases where I represent people at the administrative level, as well as federal court for appeals. I also represent individuals in criminal matters in both state and federal courts. I have been in Family Court with some regularity for the last 15 years.
I have handled personal injury, bankruptcies, and real estate title work. I have litigated property disputes. I have also represented individuals in employment cases and the public employee grievance process. In my 32 years as a lawyer, I have handled thousands of cases in both state and federal court.
I have been a member of the West Virginia Association Justice for thirty years, serving on the Board of Governors for more than 20 years.
I also served on the Board of Governors for the West Virginia State Bar. I’m presently on the West Virginia State Bar Grievance Committee which mediates disputes between clients and their lawyers.
I was the Mercer County Legal Aid pro bono lawyer of the year in 2008. I served as one of the judges for the Mercer County Teen Court program for several years at its inception. I am current chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Princeton. I am the volunteer attorney for the Mercer County Humane Society’s effort to build a spay and neuter clinic.
